Featuring new dish : Bitter Melon Salad

Yes, it’s fast approaching ! Come join us to celebrate this wonderful event with your friends and family. We invited our favorite bands, Comfort Food and Killer Bees to play some reggae and smooth jazz for a delightful evening celebration. There will also be a new appetizer, the Bitter Melon Salad, which is a very exotic dish offered all day only on Dec 14th & 15th.

They call it bitter melon for a reason. It is absurdly bitter. Although the taste, texture, and presentation of the harmless vegetable scares all the Vietnamese children away, they are forced to eat it. In our Vietnamese Culture, bitter melons help cool down your body, release your tensions, and clean out all the intoxins you have in your body. Bitter melons are very low in calories and they are very rich in fiber, minerals, vitamins, and anti-oxidants. They help lower your blood sugar and stimulates easy digestion.

To help introduce this health bountiful vegetable, Mekong Village sliced the bitter melons to crispy thin slices so the bitterness won’t be as harsh. We add in scrumptious little fried shrimps tossed with basil and carrot shreds, drenched in Mekong Village’s sweet and tart dressing and finally embellished with cilantro, fried onions, and peanuts to serve.

Comfort Food will be playing live on Friday, Dec 14th, 2012. Killer Bees will be playing live on Saturday, Dec 15th, 2012. The bands will be playing from 6PM-10PM. Reservations are highly recommended, especially for parties of five or more.
